A video review of the Penn Coal startup - from a dead coal fire I let go out so I can video the startup. There was considerable amount of ash and spent coal in the pot. I normally get a fire going with splits when starting up like this - so that I can open the mpd and let the flu exhaust any dust that I shake from the grate.

This is the crawl space of my 1870 house. I will be removing dirt and striving for a fairly flat and smooth surface. Set the vapor barrier on the ground and then spray closed cell foam on the exterior cinder blocks. This is an unvented crawl space - where the access point is my basement of the addition.

Pellet Vent Clean Out - LBT - Viewed from outside. Posted by: jjs777fzr

Using the Leaf Blower Trick on the Pellet Stove Vent. I disconnected the Tee from inside and used the leaf blower to blow the soot out. I've seen some folks do it with the leaf blower sucking instead of blowing. For me it was easier to disc from the inside T and go from there.

Fisher Baby Bear Wood Stove

Fisher Baby Bear Wood Stove Posted by: jjs777fzr

Video duration: 188 seconds

A brief video showing the Baby Bear burning with a few splits of seasoned oak/maple w/MM content between 12-14%. Outside temps approx 50F. I'm using a smoke shelf (baffle) in the stove which alters its original 1979 design. This reduces smoke to some extent and drastically reduces the fire from going up and out the rear vent. Baffle tips learned from hearth.com.

Splitting Black Locust on HF 7Ton

Splitting Black Locust on HF 7Ton Posted by: jjs777fzr

Video duration: 15 seconds

Although I'm about 200ft down stream of the electrical panel - the HF 7Ton unit is just able to split some 8-10inch rounds of what I believe to be Black Locust. I have larger rounds that I just can't split - so I'll have to cut some grooves on both ends with the chain saw and try again.
